I hired HOST upstairs bar for my 40th Birthday party at the beginning of January which was the perfect venue for my special occasion. Lucy, Lyndsay and the team on the night organised the evening with excellent execution. I had arranged 2 different cocktails and beers for my arrival drinks which not only looked incredible but tasted delicious too. I then had a variety of canapés circulating around the room, which was perfect while everyone mingled. The quantity and the size of the canapés exceeded any expectations. All my guests loved the food and the people with special dietary requirements were well catered for and was kept separate from the other canapés. The bar and serving staff on the night were brilliant as was the DJ who came with the hire fee. I was also able to bring in my own sax player for entertainment and could get in the room early to set up which was an added bonus. For any occasion I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Everything was spot on. Thank you Host!

Spent our New Year’s Eve 2024 here it was the worst NYE I have ever had very quiet and the music was awful genuinely wish we had gone somewhere else but it was too late after midnight

Fabulous food, great atmosphere & lovely staff! Seems like Bishop's Stortford's best kept secret for a Sunday roast! Will definitely be back!

I came for dinner with my parents and we was so impressed with the food. The menu is causal but yet high quality. It was lovely to get a load of dishes to all share. I don't know any places in Bishops Stortford that offer a menu like this. The food really was excellent. The atmosphere had a good buzz about the place and the staff were lovely and helpful. After dinner we went upstairs for a drink in their bar on top of the terrace. Excellent vibe and they hire it out for private events. The whole experience was so good that I decided to hire their bar upstairs for my 40th birthday. After this I know we'll receive great food and service. Thank you Host!

We booked our wedding reception at Host on their outdoor terrace on August 31st and it was AMAZING! Amelie the supervisor worked her socks off all day, (and night!) as did the rest of the waiting staff. The tapas was fantastic and service excellent, they couldn’t have been more attentive. We even returned in the evening for a last minute sit down meal for 10 in the main restaurant where again, service and food was impeccable. Fabulous time had by all, thank you so much for making our day so memorable.

We had the most wonderful wedding reception hosted at Host! The whole team went the extra mile showing an extremely high level of attention and professionalism. The food was exquisite, especially the next level hot dogs and prawns. So many of our guests commented positively on it all and also our evening options of pizza and fish and chip cones. We enjoyed the mix of Terrace and later the indoor venue upstairs and all staff ensured our guests were well cared for. The attentiveness of Lyndsay and the team was incredible and we highly recommend them. The DJ really understood our vibe and was great and we were grateful to even have security to make sure we were all safe. For us, the venue was perfect as we wanted to be in town and didn’t want something too formal. Don’t hesitate if you are looking for a fab Stortford venue for your special occasion!

What a horrible experience!! Food was off, old smelly and disgusting. Fries were soggy. Drinks took forever to get to us. Rude staff, no smiles, no thank yous. Pure rudeness. Waitress asked us to down our drinks as they were closing, stood by our table pressuring us, although the drinks took forever to get to us. People sick in the toilet, probably from the bad food. Not going back nor recommending it!

I cannot complain at all about food. It was brilliant. But when it came to service it was disgusting. There were so many staff standing around doing nothing. While we were trying to get their attention they would walk off and turn their backs on us and purposely ignore. We asked for a desert menu and 20 mins later they came back empty handed and asked if we wanted a desert menu.

I came here twice recently. Once to have tapas and drinks upstairs in the outdoor area, and once to have a family roast dinner downstairs in the restaurant. The outdoor area had a great vibe, music, nice and lively. Staff were nice. The tapas was delicious and had lots of gluten free options! We ordered Prosciutto, Manchego, Garlic Prawns, Cauliflower & Patatas Bravas. For the Sunday roast we had 2 roast beef, 1 adult and 2 kids roast chicken and 1 medley which was beef, chicken and pork belly. All of the roasts came with a Yorkshire pudding, a pig in blanket (sausage wrapped in bacon), roast potatoes, veg and gravy 🤤 For dessert we had 2 kids ice-cream, a chocolate fondant and 3 sticky toffee pudding 🤤 It was great service and a delicious meal.

Visited host for Mother’s Day as a large group and more recently a smaller group for drinks and tapas on the terrace. Has to be one of my favourite restaurants in Bishop’s Stortford. The food is great quality and always delicious and cocktails great with a good selection. Service is always attentive and any special requests are always catered for. The terrace has a lovely atmosphere, feels like being on holiday sipping cocktails and eating tapas in the sunshine. Staff are always polite and courteous and if there any issues they are addressed and rectified in a professional manner. Highly recommend a visit if you haven’t been.

We visited host for lunch. Sadly the food was absolutely awful, my husband ordered avocado on toast - this was tiny and looked terrible. My father had chicken Caesar salad - except there was no chicken, only lettuce, croutons and dressing. It was hardly a substantial salad ( it is advertised as a main). I had tapas - portion sizes better but terrible food. Would never go back.

I revisited host terrace a week after my initial visit, and I have to say, they truly improved themselves this time! Despite having more people, the service was noticeably better and more efficient. The staff handled the larger crowd with ease, ensuring everyone was well taken care of. The food was very nice, with the tapas on the menu that were simply delightful. Each dish was well put together with good flavor. And once again, the DJs created an incredible atmosphere. Their music selection and energy made the afternood nostalgicaly fun. If anything, they were even better than before, keeping the vibe lively and fun throughout the evening. Overall, host has shown that they can handle a busy afternoon without compromising on quality. This summer season looks promising. I highly recommend checking them out!

I am writing to express my disappointment with the level of service I received during my recent visit to your establishment. Despite my anticipation for a memorable experience, I encountered several issues that significantly detracted from my enjoyment. From prolonged wait times for orders to inattentive staff, the overall quality of service fell far below expectations.However, amidst this disappointing service, there was a shining beacon of excellence that I cannot overlook. The DJ (Kevin and Brad)set I had the pleasure of experiencing was nothing short of extraordinary. The seamless transitions, eclectic track selection, and infectious energy created an atmosphere that captivated the entire crowd. It was undoubtedly the best DJ performance I have had the pleasure of witnessing this year.While I hope that improvements can be made to enhance the overall customer experience, I felt compelled to commend the exceptional talent and professionalism of the DJ. Their skillful performance truly elevated the ambiance of your establishment despite the service shortcomings.

The roast dinner was so so nice , my missus won’t like me saying this but it was the best roast I’ve had .. I’d recommend the sticky toffee pudding as well . Service was spot on as well 👍

Absolutely great afternoon at Host in the bubble upstairs. Special shout out to our waitress Lisa, she really went over and above for us. Food was amazing!! followed by some cool cocktails that were flowing. Really felt a special treat for my birthday celebrations.

Vegetarians beware! Disgrace to serve 1.5 pieces of mushrooms as a main part of a Sunday roast, what the actual duck. Absolute disgrace. And the cauliflower cheese ordered on the side very undercooked. Although red cabbage was good. But very very very disappointed. In addition to that, it said brunch items available till 3pm on the menu but when we tried to order from there, they said it stops at 12. False advertising.. So stuck with 1.5 pieces of mushrooms we were. And that's all the veggie option you pretty much get. Hurrah..

Excellent night out for all of our party. Decent music, excellent service and atmosphere. Big thanks to Hatty for being extremely attentive and a big thanks to Selina for helping when a member of our party was taken a little unwell let's say. Definitely be back soon.

We chose Host for our office Christmas party and it was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was festive, which created the perfect backdrop for our celebration. The service was exceptional, both attentive and friendly, literally nothing was too much effort, even though we were a large crowd. Let's not forget the food however, which was exceptional, well cooked, piping hot and so well presented. From The Residence Coworking, and all our members, massive THANKS for a fabulous evening, we can't wait to return ❤️

Had a fantastic works Christmas meal. The staff made us feel really welcome and were attentive throughout the evening. The food was outstanding, so massive compliments to the chef and team. Would 100% recommend.

We thought the Sunday roast was excellent the meat was really cooked well and the four of us all enjoyed our food. Those who had desserts were impressed with them too. However the drinks we ordered pre dinner were not of the quality I expected. My wife’s gin and tonic was served in a tumbler no ice; no lemon and filled to the top with tonic. It was tasteless. We expected the tonic to be served so we can add it to our preferred taste. And to look appetising sadly it didn’t look good nor tasted good very disappointing. Also the Bloody Mary served to us was of an equally poor standard. The tumbler filled to the brim with watery tomato juice no flavour other than watery. Needs to be improved ASAP. The poor standard of the drinks would not stop us visiting Host again as the food served to us was really good. And we would now say what we expected from the bar staff. But should we have to ? Come on Host sort out those poor drinks. So easily put right.

I celebrated my birthday on Sunday with family by having my first Sunday Roast at Host. It didn't disappoint, we all had the beef which was so succulent and all the trimmings were perfect. We ordered an extra side of cauliflower cheese and as my dad said it was the best he had ever had and he is 84, so he has had a few!! Already looking forward to the next one.

Absolutely cannot understand why this restaurant is not full every minute of every day they are open!!! The food is superb, from the starters through to the deserts. Let's not talk about the Sunday roast medley.... we'll I will because it is the best roast dinner we have ever had, you just need to try it, you won't be disappointed. Also had the full English brunch also excellent, best tasting breakfast in Bishop's Stortford. Already booked for Christmas Eve and the Christmas party menu. Staff are also very curtious and professional, nothing is too much trouble. Treat yourself this festive period and enjoy 😍
